Volume: 1, Issue: 04 - October 01, 2010 A Fortnightly Magazine for IT Professionals

Dear Friends,

In this issue of TechNet flash we focus on Innovation from two very different perspectives. First and foremost one of Window server 2000 which has seen many milestones over the last 10 years has now reached its end of life. Every successful product makes room for even better products and provides a clear path to migration. Windows server 2008 R2 is the next gen of server technology that takes the data center needs of today around energy efficiency, reduced cost and increased performance to the next levels. It gives you the control to manage every possible scenario in your data center seamlessly. I do recommend going through the resources covered by Pallavi in the feature below.

Second way to drive innovation in technology scenarios in your respective organizations is through Rich internet applications. Check out our very informative 'TechNet On' package on Silverlight@Work to discover new ways to enrich your customer experience.

Many thanks and happy reading...

On July 13th, 2010, support for Windows 2000 Server ended. Microsoft provides
10 years of support (5 years Mainstream Support and 5 years Extended Support)
at the supported service pack level for most Business and Developer products. With support for Windows 2000 Server coming to an end, organizations that haven't already migrated, need to migrate their Windows 2000 Server based infrastructure
to latest Windows Server family releases. Windows Server 2008 R2 is the newest Windows Server operating system from Microsoft. Designed to help organizations reduce operating costs and increase efficiencies, Windows Server 2008 R2 provides enhanced management control over resources across the enterprise. It is designed to provide better energy efficiency and performance by reducing power consumption and lowering overhead costs. It also helps provide improved branch office capabilities, exciting new remote access experiences, streamlined server management, and expands the Microsoft virtualization solution for both client and server computers.
