1. Walking, Hiking and Running Talk about killing two birds with one stone. These are excellent hobbies because they are all great for you, as well as not costing you anything. Just avoid doing so at the mall or shopping areas to avoid the temptation to buy.

Sure there can be reoccuring costs with keeping your instrument in working order, but with the vast amounts of online resources, you can learn all you need to know about your instrument. Most instruments you could find for relatively cheap, assuming you're not buying the professional, high-end ones. Also using sites like craigslist or visiting local garage sales can help you find used instruments at a fraction of the costs of new ones.
3. Writing Writing is a great way to pass the time as well as sometimes being very therapeutic. Free sites such as wordpress.org and blogspot.com offer free resources to get you up and writing in a few minutes. You do not need to know any coding and you can have your own blog up in mintues. If you are interesting enough, you can even find ways to generate a little extra money on the side, however, the most important thing is that it is free.
4. Cooking and Baking To save money, we should all be eating out less and eating at home more. Often times, people don't realize how much money they can save on each meal if they cook at home. However, if you find that you are craving something, why not look for a recipe online and give it a try. It will be cheaper, and you never know, you might find an interest in cooking.
5. Reading Your tax dollars are at work everyday at the library - so why not use it? Reading can provide you hours of endless enjoyment for free. Reading is the single best way to increase your knowledge, or escape from the dull realities of your everyday life. |  |
